Hololight Stream is the XR streaming technology designed to offload rendering from Augmented and Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to powerful external servers.

With Hololight Stream you can leverage uncompromised visualization quality and eliminate device and data security constraints.

Hololight offers two ways to use Hololight Stream: As a developer, you can integrate the SDK to make your AR/VR app streamable. Or, if you’re an end user, you can install the Runtime to stream any OpenXR-supported app to a wide range of AR/VR devices.

Memory:

  • 8 GB RAM, 16 GB or more recommended

Graphics Requirements:
For GPU Raytracing, Autodesk recommends the use of the following NVIDIA® driver versions. Larger scenes require 8GB or more GPU memory.

  • Windows NVIDIA driver requirements:
    • v.2025.3 requires an RTX 551.23 or above for RGB raytracing and spectral raytracing
    • v.2025.1 - 2025.2 requires an RTX 536.67 or above for RGB raytracing and 551.23 for spectral raytracing
    • v.2025 requires an RTX 527.41 or above
      IMPORTANT: To use DLSS RR, you will need the NVIDIA driver v.537.13 or above; otherwise, VRED will default to the DLSS from version 2024.1.
  • Linux NVIDIA driver requirements:
    • v.2025.3 requires an RTX 550.54 or above for RGB raytracing and spectral raytracing
    • v.2025.1 - 2025.2 requires an RTX 535.86 or above for RGB raytracing and 550.54 for spectral raytracing
    • v.2025 requires an RTX 525.60 or above

VR/XR Requirements
For VR/XR, the minimum requirements regarding runtimes are the following:

  • SteamVR 2.5.5 or above for HMDs with SteamVR (OpenVR, OpenXR)
  • VarjoBase 4.3.1 or above for Varjo HMDs with Varjo Base (Varjo native mode, OpenXR)
  • Meta Quest Link App 65.0.0.499.343 or above for Meta/Oculus HMDs with Meta Quest Link App (OpenXR)
  • VIVE XR Elite requires VIVE Business Streaming v.1.15.11c and the VIVE business Streaming App v.1.0.21.14

Operating Systems:

  • Microsoft® Windows® 11
  • Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
    IMPORTANT:
    • Red Hat 7.x or 8.x as of version 2025
    • Red Hat 6.x is not supported as of version 2022
    • Windows 7 is not supported as of version 2021
    • macOS is not supported as of version 2019.1

For the VRED Render Node and VRED Core:

  • Linux Version: Linux with GNU C Library stable release version 2.17 with installed X-Server
  • VRED Core on Linux: As of 2025, xcb-util-cursor is a mandatory dependency.
  • Red Hat 9.x
    IMPORTANT: Autodesk recommends updating to Linux RedHat 8, as Linux 7 will not be supported as of version 2025.
